About Christine...

Christine grew up at Still Meadows Ranch and developed a love for horses at a very young age. She has competed in many disciplines included western and english pleasure, halter showmanship, hunter/jumper, cattle penning, cutting, team roping, pole bending, goat tying, reining, working cowhorse, and barrel racing. Christine has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best including:

  • Maxine Rusnak
  • Brian Rusnak
  • JP Forget
  • Cody Sapergia
  • Gary Coleman
  • Connie Combs
  • Ricky Green
  • Mike Beers

Under the direction of JP Forget and aboard her mom's stallion, Freedoms Dry Doc ST., Christine was fortunate enough to show in the reining all over Canada and in the States. She was a member of the Reining Canada Young Rider Team in 2002.

In 2004 Christine decided to go back to College and begin working towards her Bachelor of Commerce. She attained this degree in 2008 through Lakeland College and Athabasca University. In her 4 years at College, Christine was an active member of the Lakeland College Rodeo Team and of the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (CIRA). She competed in 5 events including: Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Goat Tying, Break Away Roping, and Pole Bending.

In 2006 she was the only girl to qualify for the CIRA finals in Team Roping and was 2nd in the Break Away Roping average. She also qualified for the finals in Barrel Racing and Goat Tying. In the summer of 2006 she traveled all over the United States with the Young Pro Tour, putting on free Christian Team Roping clinics. This was a great opportunity which helped her to grow as an instructor and work on her roping skills.

In 2015 she was the Thorsby rodeo's LBR champion and qualified and competed at the 2015 LRA showdown. With the help of her awesome horse Homer, she placed in 3 of 5 rounds and went the entire season without hitting a barrel.

Currently Christine is focusing on training and competing with Reining and Barrel horses, but still works with all types of horses. Her love for teaching is growing and she is enjoying helping others getting more out of their horses by developing a better understanding of how they work and think. She is offering clinics in many disciplines including:

  • Reining/Horsemanship
  • Team Roping
  • Barrel Racing
  • Pole Bending
  • Goat Tying
  • Working Cattle/Buffalo

June 1, 2012 Christine married Jeff Drisner, and they now both work on the ranch.

Shawna Paquette

Shawna grew up on the back of a horse starting out riding only bareback. She spent many years in 4h and showing horses in everything from halter/showmanship, to western pleasure, and reining. She then tested out her hand at team roping starting as a heeler and then adding heading as well. She was very successful in every area she chose to compete and expand her skills. Shawna has a fountain of knowledge when it comes to horses and teaching people to ride. She always comes up with a fun and unique way to improve her students skills and knowledge. Her experience level is great with 17 years plus teaching and guiding rides. She was also the head of the horsemanship program at Birch Bay Ranch for 2 years. If you have the opportunity to learn from Shawna you will want to take it. She will give your mind and body a workout in your lessons and you will come away feeling great about what you are learning!
